Resources and Support

There are many resources that can help with the journey through bereavement and loss. Some offer face-to-face support, some telephone and email support. Most have at least information and advice online and many access to other areas of support. These resources are especially important for those who do not have an immediate network of support through friends and/or family.

Cruse Bereavement Care – offers support for bereavement, and also for loss due to a traumatic event or suicide
BEAD (Bereaved through Alcohol and Drugs) – offers support for bereavement through drug or alcohol use
Child Bereavement UK - offers support for the loss of a child, and for children who are bereaved
Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity (SANDS) – offers support for those affected by the death of a baby
The Compassionate Friends – offers services to support bereaved parents and families
Widowed and Young – offers support to people who are under 50 and have lost a significant other
Sue Ryder - offers bereavement support, and care for people with terminal illness and neurological conditions
SOBS website (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide) - offer support for people who have been bereaved by suicide
Macmillan Cancer Support – offers end of life and bereavement support
Mind – offers lots of general information on bereavement
NHS – offers information on dealing with grief and bereavement after a loss
The Blue Cross - offers a bereavement service for anyone affected by the death of an animal friend
PDSA - offers information on coping with the bereavement of an animal companion
Paws to Listen (Cats Protection) - offers support anyone suffering bereavement of their cat
Friends at the End (The British Horse Society) - offers support for those who facing the loss of their horse
World Horse Welfare - offers support on helping those who are saying farewell to their horse
